Orange You Glad to See Me?
Oil on Panel – 5″x7″ – 2017
Winner: Second Prize, Open Category – Tukwila Fine Arts Show
Painted from life, you get to choose the subject and I will source the materials, arrange the composition, and get your final approval before starting the painting. If you would like to commemorate a special heirloom, I can arrange transport of it to and from the studio, with guaranteed care taken while it is in my hands. Fruits, vegetables, toys, tools, mementos, and more, the subject matter is only limited by our imagination.
Starting at just $100 for a 5×7” composition of 1-3 items; give a gift that will brighten anyone’s home or treat yourself to a unique piece of art.
In the age of cheap photography, an oil portrait is still something special, a wholly unique item in a world of infinite replications. It is the culmination of a lifetime’s dedication to a craft and the ultimate test of a painter’s skill. A painted portrait captures not only the likeness of the subject, but their spirit.
The first step in the process is getting acquainted with the client in person; understanding their tastes, preferences, and personality. Generally I prefer working from life, or from photographs I have taken personally, of the subject in a setting comfortable to them to yield a natural & bespoke portrait.
Working from life or from photographs both have their unique advantages and disadvantages, but my years of classical atelier education serve as a foundation to translate between the two, effectively blending the benefits of both while minimizing their weaknesses.
Portrait pricing begin at just $1000 and vary depending on complexity, deadline, and size. Travel expenses in the Seattle metro area are included and work-in-progress photos will be provided to assure continued satisfaction throughout the process.
